Umberto serves to model and assess complex production systems, such as a chemical or semiconductor manufacturing productions. This tool takes data from external information systems (including EcoInvent) or are newly modeled and calculated. With its comfortable graphic interface even complex structures can be modeled: the production facilities in a company, process and value chains, or product life cycles. Flows and stocks can be valuated using standard or individual performance indicators. Scaling per unit of products or per period is possible.
Umberto allows analysis and display of the real costs of processes, materials being used, or waste materials, based on the material and energy flows. The internal cost allocation carried out during the calculation helps identify improvement potentials on a consistent basis taking ecological and economic aspects into account.
